1806 Weimar Map - Die Insul Trinidad
The Weimar Geographische Institut was the leading publisher of German cartographic material in the early 1800's. They were prepared to draw on map sources from anywhere in the world as long as they were convinced of accuracy and up-to-dateness. Their two major atlases were 'Atlas Minimus' of 1806 and the 'Allgemeiner Hand Atlas' of 1813.
Maps of Trinidad on its own are very scarce. Most mapmakers included it as part of a grouping of islands but Weimar have granted it solitary status. Their map shows a sparsely populated island with only one main settlement, Puerta de Espana (Port of Spain). The rest of its inhabitants are scatterd along the west coast. There is good detail to the rivers but slightly less so to the hilly topography.
The map measures 7" by 8.5", has two folds (as issued),later outline hand colouring, and is in very good condition.
The map is guaranteed to be over 200 years old.

United States - Regular airmail $4.50US. Registered/insured airmail (optional) is an additional US$12.00 for a total of US$16.50.
Canada - $3.00US for regular mail, $9.00US for registered mail. Canadian customers please add 5% GST, Ontario customers an additional 8% PST. Sorry, we cannot arrange for pick up of ebay items.
Rest of the world - Regular air mail $7.50US. Registered/insured airmail (optional) is is an additional US$12.00 for a total of US$19.50.

Please note - We can only take responsibility for delivery if the optional registration/insurance is added. Regular airmail is usually very safe and reliable, but items sent by regular airmail are at the buyers risk - regular airmail provides no tracking number, no proof of shipping or delivery, and no insurance in case of loss or damage.
Please note - Mailing from Canada to the United States and all other international destinations can sometimes take over two weeks for delivery.
